in situ: presents one of the greatest masterpieces of the Twentieth Century.
Olga, Irina and Masha – the three sisters of the title – live in an isolated Russian town far from the Moscow they remember and love. In a meaningless and dreary present, they dream of future happiness. The arrival of an army regiment appears to furnish an opportunity
for escape, but leads only to violence and disillusion.
Inspired by Russian/Soviet practitioners such as Stanislavsky and Meyerhold, and the more modern influences of absurdism and ‘Zero Theatre’, in situ:’s fine ensemble performance explores Chekhov’s great tragedy in new and powerful ways.
The Leper Chapel. 8pm. Tickets: £12/10
