Hello everybody,

As part of our 10th Anniversary celebrations, in situ: is reviving its popular summer Shakespeare season from last year.

June 22–26: We start off with King Lear, which takes place in the majestic setting of Wandlebury Country Park, Cambridge. This is a walkaround performance, following the old King through woods, meadows, thickets and ditches as he makes his harrowing journey of loss, destitution and madness. An extraordinary environment for Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy – details and tickets.

You can get tickets from www.wegottickets.com (just type “in situ:” in the search box on the site) or check the weather and come out on the night. It’s an outdoor walkaround performance, so it’s extremely unlikely that you won’t be able to get a ticket. Bring a folding chair if you wish, plus umbrella and insect repellant. It is not difficult terrain, but it does involve some walking. Check the route with us if you’re unsure. You can bring a picnic, but this is strictly before the show not during! This is not champagne and strawberries Shakespeare. It’s experimental, challenging, tragic and extremely exciting!!

July 6-10: Then Bella Stewart and Richard Spaul are doing their two-handed performance of Macbeth, in the unique and mysterious atmosphere of the Leper Chapel. This is not for wimps either – it’s a frighteningly intense exploration of violence and its effect on the human soul. Claustrophobic, bloody and unmissable. Unlike some in situ: performances, Macbeth is all indoors and seated throughout. Space is limited, so book in advance or get there early – details and tickets.

July 20-24: Then we’re reviving last year’s extremely popular production of Twelfth Night, Shakespeare’s fascinating comedy of narcissism and class and gender ambiguity. Mirrors abound in this world of unreliable appearances – come and enjoy a wealth of fabulous performances from in situ’s talented ensemble, interspersed with the songs of Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Noel Coward and others. Twelfth Night is a feast for the eye, the ear and the intellect. ‘If music be the food of love, play on!’ – details and tickets.

Tickets: bookings are through www.wegottickets.com this year. No actual tickets will be mailed out, instead you need to print out the booking confirmation and bring it with you. Our front of house staff will then check your booking against our master list. If you do not have a credit card or prefer not to use it on-line, please call us on 01223 211451.

Hope to see you there.

Richard and Bella
